Hello Reader,

In this end-of-August edition of Intrigue Insiders, I'm sharing some of my favorite reads from the summer, seeking your opinion on the best headline for Bull Moose #1 and dropping some hints about Tree of Liberty: Book 2. During our family summer travels, which included a trip to the Great Smoky Mountains, I took in some new reads and enjoyed a second read of some others that I would like to pass onto you.

Fiction:

​Eruption by Michael Crichton & James Patterson​

This was a thrilling read. The backstory behind this unfinished work by Crichton compelled me to check it out; I was not disappointed. The story dashed forward with energy and peril from start to finish, and I learned a thing or two about volcanoes along the way. I highly recommend this book! ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️ ⭐️

​The Collector (Gabriel Allon Book 23) by Daniel Silva​

I went back to read this book a second time this summer and loved the intricate elements of weaving facts from the real world into this compelling and heart-pumping read. The war in Ukraine plays a central role in the plot. It is also a book I highly recommend. ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️ ⭐️

Nonfiction:

​The River of Doubt by Candice Millard​

Candice is my favorite nonfiction writer of historical episodic biography, and this is my favorite book by this compelling writer. If you have not yet read one of her four fantastic books, do yourself a favor and begin with this one. You'll be hooked. It is the story of President Theodore Roosevelt's post-1912 election defeat to find himself and the source of the Amazon River. I highly recommend this exciting read, which is an adventure taken by the former president I am almost certain you don't know much about. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

​Accidental Presidents by Jared Cohen​

This was my first read by Cohen, and it was the subject matter that had me plunge into this book as part of my research around the Bull Moose series. The book was stuffed to the brim with incredible research and information I never knew about the men who became President accidentally, mostly at the hands of the Curse of Tippecanoe - that is if you believe in curses. ⭐️⭐️⭐️
